Give an invaluable gift - or get help through egg donation
At Freya Fertility, you meet a warm, professional team that supports you all the way – whether you want to donate eggs or receive eggs.
Egg donation makes it possible to create life, even when nature needs a little help.
What is egg donation?
Egg donation is a fertility treatment where an egg from another woman is fertilised with sperm from a partner or donor. The fertilised egg is then transferred to the recipient’s uterus, where the pregnancy develops completely naturally.
The method is used when the woman cannot produce eggs of sufficient quality herself, or when there is a risk of passing on a genetic disease.
At Freya Fertility, we offer egg donation to couples, single women, and LGBTQ+ families – always with personal counselling and a high professional standard.
When can egg donation be relevant?
Have low ovarian reserve or reduced egg quality
Have been through repeated unsuccessful IVF attempts
Have an inherited disease you do not wish to pass on
Do not have egg production due to early menopause
Safety, support, and understanding
Egg donation is an emotional decision. That is why our approach is warm, inclusive, and transparent.
You always receive personal counselling and a conversation with both doctor and midwife, who help you make the choice that feels right.
How the treatment works
1. Egg retrieval from donor
The egg donor goes through a short IVF treatment, where the eggs are retrieved.
2. Fertilisation in the laboratory
The eggs are fertilised with sperm from the partner or a donor (in double donation).
3. Selection and freezing
The fertilised eggs are cultured further and suitable blastocysts are frozen.
4. Preparation of the recipient
The uterus is prepared with hormone supplements or in a natural cycle.
5. Embryo transfer
A selected embryo is placed in the uterus, where the pregnancy can begin.

Types of donation
At Freya Fertility, we offer all forms of egg donation:
Anonymous donor
You do not know the donor’s identity, but you can choose based on general characteristics such as hair colour, height, and eye colour.
Open donor (non-anonymous)
The child can later receive more information and possibly contact the donor when turning 18.
Known donor
You can bring a sister, friend, or other family member as donor. The donor may not be closely related to the recipient’s partner.
Double donation
In Denmark, it is allowed to receive both eggs and sperm from donors. At least one donor must be open, so the child can later gain knowledge of their genetic background.
