Social freezing - freezing of unfertilised eggs
Preserve your options for the future
Freedom to choose when the time is right
Social freezing – freezing of unfertilised eggs – gives you the possibility to wait to have children without giving up the dream of becoming a mother.
Maybe you have not yet met the right partner, you are focused on your career, you are studying, or you simply want to take your time.
Whatever the reason, social freezing gives you peace of mind and the freedom to make an active choice about your future.
Why timing matters
Fertility naturally declines with age. After 35, both the number and quality of eggs decrease significantly.
That is why egg freezing is recommended while you are between 25 and 35 years old, when the eggs typically have the best quality.
The younger the eggs are, the higher the chance of a successful treatment later on.
Is social freezing the right choice for you?
Whether egg freezing is the right solution depends on your age, egg reserve, and future plans.
During a fertility assessment, you get a clear overview of your options and can discuss benefits and expectations with one of our experienced fertility doctors.
How a social freezing course works
1. Fertility assessment
The process begins with a consultation and assessment of your fertility. We assess your egg reserve via ultrasound scan and, if relevant, an AMH blood test.
2. Stimulation and egg retrieval
You receive a short course of hormonal stimulation that makes the ovaries mature several eggs. The eggs are collected in a short, gentle procedure at the clinic.
3. Freezing and storage
Your unfertilised eggs are vitrified (rapidly frozen) and stored at -196 °C until you wish to use them. According to Danish law, eggs can be stored until you turn 46.

How many eggs should you freeze?
To maintain a realistic chance of pregnancy, it is recommended to freeze around 20 unfertilised eggs.
This usually requires 2-3 egg retrievals, as not all eggs survive thawing and fertilisation.
