Frozen embryos (FET)

Treatment with frozen embryos (FET)

Give your frozen blastocysts a new chance. Have you already undergone IVF/ICSI and have surplus blastocysts in storage? FET treatment (Frozen Embryo Transfer) gives you the possibility to thaw a frozen blastocyst and transfer it back into the uterus.

What is FET treatment?

FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) is the process where a previously frozen blastocyst is thawed and transferred to the uterus – without the need for a new egg retrieval.

We only work with high-quality blastocysts. All handling is performed by very experienced staff, and we use only the latest technology in our laboratory.

Safety and closeness

Frozen embryo transfer is a gentler treatment than a full IVF cycle with egg retrieval. It is important for Freya Fertility to emphasise that the chance of pregnancy is just as high with FET as with transfer of fresh embryos.

We ensure ongoing dialogue and adjustments, so the entire process feels calm and safe.

How an FET course works

1. Thawing of blastocyst

A fertilised blastocyst that has previously been frozen is gently thawed.

2. Preparation of the uterus

Either in your natural cycle or with mild hormonal support.

3. Transfer

The thawed blastocyst is transferred back into the uterus. The procedure is identical to a fresh transfer.

4. Support phase and test

You may continue on hormones, and about 14 days later a pregnancy test is performed.

Results and expectations

A successful thawing requires that the blastocyst is of high quality. At modern clinics, at least 90% of blastocysts survive thawing (for clinics working routinely with FET).
