When the dream of a child needs a little extra help
At Freya Fertility, you meet an experienced and dedicated team who guide you safely through your fertility journey. With IVF and ICSI treatment, we can offer a tailored solution – adapted to your situation and your wishes.
What are IVF and ICSI?
IVF
IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) is also called test tube treatment. Eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in the laboratory. The best embryo is selected and transferred to the uterus.
ICSI
ICSI (Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is a variant of IVF where a single sperm cell is injected directly into the egg. This method is used when sperm quality is reduced, or if a previous IVF treatment resulted in few fertilised eggs.
Both treatments can be carried out with either partner sperm or donor sperm.
When do we recommend IVF or ICSI?
Treatment may be relevant if:
The fallopian tubes are blocked or damaged
The man has moderate to severely reduced sperm quality
Couples with unexplained infertility have not had success with insemination
The woman has severe endometriosis
Safety all the way through
At Freya Fertility, you are never just a number. We follow you closely through the whole process and adapt the treatment to your needs. Our team has many years of international experience and takes the time to answer all your questions – big and small.
“We have welcomed a lovely little girl into the world. A thousand thanks for a great course of treatment. You and your colleagues have been incredibly skilled and at the same time present and caring throughout our journey.”
How a typical course works
1. Hormone stimulation
Medication ensures that several eggs develop.
2. Egg retrieval
Mature eggs are gently collected from the ovaries.
3. Fertilisation in the laboratory
IVF or ICSI is performed using sperm from partner or donor.
4. Embryo culture
The eggs are cultured in our EmbryoScope. After 2-5 days, the best embryo is selected (most often a blastocyst on day 5).
5. Transfer to the uterus
The embryo is placed in the uterine cavity, where it can continue to develop naturally.
