What is IUI treatment?
IUI stands for Intrauterine Insemination. The treatment involves injecting washed sperm directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation. This increases the chance that the sperm will meet the egg and that fertilisation will happen naturally.
At Freya Fertility, we offer two types of IUI:
- IUI-H: Insemination with partner's sperm
- IUI-D: Insemination with donor sperm
When do we recommend insemination?
IUI treatment with partner's sperm can be a good solution for:
- Couples with unexplained infertility
- Couples where the man has mildly to moderately reduced sperm quality
- Couples where the woman has an irregular cycle and ovulation
IUI treatment with donor sperm is offered to:
- Single women
- Lesbian couples
- Couples where the man's sperm is not suitable for fertility treatment

How an IUI course works
1. Short start-up and possible hormone stimulation
A mild treatment that helps 1-3 eggs mature.

3. Insemination
The best sperm cells are injected directly into the uterus. The procedure only takes a few minutes and is similar to a routine gynaecological examination.
4. Follow-up test and review
After about 14 days, you get the result.
